Let’s face it. Auditions can be scary. But if you’re prepared and know the basics of the auditioning process, auditioning can actually be fun! This class will challenge and stretch you in the realm of musical theater focusing on techniques needed for Journey-style auditions. Learn how to pick and perform the right song, get your cold reading skills ready for callbacks, and your dance technique ready to shine.

Beginning Contemporary *

Teacher: Cassidy Donnelly

Pre-Requisite: Foundations of Dance

Contemporary dance blends multiple styles to offer unmatched freedom of expression with fewer rules. At its core, it is about storytelling, channeling deep emotion, and exploring what your body can do. From commercial visionaries like Travis Wall (choreographer for Justin Bieber) to Mandy Moore (the mastermind behind La La Land and Taylor Switf's Eras Tour), contemporary dance has a place for everyone. Whether you love to leap through the air, roll and slide across the floor, or dance out your feelings when a favorite song comes on, this class is your creative playground. You will improve your body awareness, learn foundational floor work and weight transfers, and build the confidence to bring your own unique style to life.

The Actor's Voice (ages 9-16)

Teacher: David Bareford

An actor has two instruments at their disposal—the body and the voice. In this class, we’ll build on the Foundations class to help each actor learn the basics of projection, breathing, and articulation. Learning to use and protect their vocal instrument is critical to an actor’s success. Students will understand the need for projection and develop the stamina they need to be successful for the duration of a rehearsal process and show run. This class is a must for anyone who takes performance seriously. Plus, learning to speak and communicate well is a great asset off stage too!

Introduction to Shakespeare *

Teacher: Olivia Johnson

Pre-Requisite: Foundations of Drama

Hamlet, Juliet, Hotspur, Violet, Rosalind, Benedict. You will meet some of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters in this class. Learn how to appreciate and approach the work of the world’s most produced playwright, William Shakespeare.
