Teacher: Ana Grayce Krachinski
1, 2, 3, 4 – Let’s get up and rock the floor! 5, 6, 7, 8 – Point your toes and stand up straight! Step up to the basic techniques that will prepare you to take on any form of dance. Whether you want to learn Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, or Ballroom, this class will give you the foundation you’ll need to succeed. This foundational class focuses on basic ballet and jazz dance.
Teacher: Micah McIlvain
Whether you sing in your church choir, along with Rock Band, or just in the shower, singing can be fun! Learn how to put those pipes to use with good technique and style. In this interactive class, students will learn the fundamental concepts and training of the voice, learn proper posture and breathing techniques, phrasing and how to stay on pitch. Students will develop the confidence they need to perform solos in showcase through an encouraging learning environment.
Teacher: Hannah Allen Brooks
Pre-Requisite: Foundations of Drama
The actor’s body tells a story on stage even when there is no dance or fight choreography. Learn to use movement, gesture, and expression to communicate emotions, relationships, and conflict without saying a word. Students will learn to inhabit a character physically, establish the imaginary world of the play, and even portray animal and fantasy characters.

Pre-Requisite: Foundations of Dance
From Broadway classics like 42nd Street to modern works like Bring in da Noise, Bring in a Funk, tap dancing has electrified the musical theater scene for decades. From the stage to the street, tap brings rhythm alive and infuses music into the heart of the performer and the audience. This class will focus on building the strength and muscle memory for the foundational steps and putting them into fun combination steps! Tap shoes are required.

Pre-Requisite: Beginning Improv
Create drama, humor, and stories on the spot. This class will continue to emphasize the basic principles of improvisation learned in CI100 with more specificity and advanced theater games. Learn team-building skills that will strengthen your ability to play with your partners on stage.

Pre-Requisite: Foundations of Drama, Dance, and Voice
Let’s face it. Auditions can be scary. But if you’re prepared and know the basics of the auditioning process, auditioning can actually be fun! This class will challenge and stretch you in the realm of musical theater focusing on techniques needed for Journey-style auditions. Learn how to pick and perform the right song, get your cold reading skills ready for callbacks, and your dance technique ready to shine.

Pre-Requisite: By Audition (auditions are 8/10/2026)
Journey’s Musical Theater Studio is a 9-month program (September through mid-June) designed for teens, who want more rigorous training in the theater arts. The Musical Theater Studio classes are designed to challenge you in all areas of musical theater: singing, dancing, and acting. In this class, you will get more personalized instruction, more challenging material, and more opportunities to push yourself into becoming a triple-threat performer and preparing for that musical theater grind.
