We Heard the Shot

-

A new play examining the assassination of President Lincoln at Ford’s Theater through the experiences of the young Theater Company members present that night. The play highlights 21-year-old Harry Ford, the theater’s manager, and 20-year-old Jeannie Gourlay, whose debut as a leading lady was scheduled for the day after the fateful night. Jeannie and her sister Maggie had in years past been part of an all-youth theater company that featured performers aging from 8 to 18. Many of the performers were even younger, and this play focuses on their experiences.
