What is TREK?

TREK stands for Teens Reaching out to Expand the Kingdom. We are Journey Theater’s teen leadership group devoted to growing high schoolers in discipleship, leadership, and servanthood to our community. As members of TREK, older Journey students feel empowered, grow in their strengths, serve as role models, and learn how to use their gifts to help others. You’ll also make great friends and have tons of fun while you lead!

Teens………..TREK students must be at least 14 years old and in high school

Reaching…… TREK should be seeking to be involved in the lives of those around them

Expand……. .. TREK students should never lose sight of bringing Christ’s light to others

Kingdom……TREK students embrace our responsibility to further the kingdom of Heaven

What does TREK do?

Students need to commit to being involved throughout the full year, doing a minimum of 2 class sessions, and participating in as many shows as possible. Even if they are not cast/crew in a show, they are still expected to attend and support their peers when they can. The only way to be effective in serving and ministering in TREK is to be present, willing, and involved.

TREK meets weekly on Monday nights at 4:45-5:45 at Crosspointe Church (just prior to Monday night classes). TREK will study principles of Christian leadership, plan activities, fundraisers, acts of service/outreach and work on creative ways to build up and encourage each other and the rest of the Journey community. Meetings may also include team building activities and brainstorming new ways to serve the community.

TREK is responsible for

Assisting the Class Coordinator with the first night of class, including welcoming new students and making TREK announcements

• Assisting the Class Coordinator with the final night of class/showcase wherever needed

• An event each quarter (game night, TREK dance, etc) one will be an all ages social event

• Planning community building activities during each show (prayer board, theme days for tech week)
