It’s time to explore! A mad scientist creates time travel watches with 3 test subjects – overly excited school children. They each begin jumping around times of history before the scientist is able to fully perfect the time travel devices. In this musical theater camp, students sing and dance as they travel to different times – including the Newsies strike, the golden age of movies, a dance in the 80s, and even a visit to the future! The students learn about different parts of time while making friends and connections along the way.

Songs include:  Way Out, Make ‘Em Laugh, Seize the Day, Year 3000, Welcome to the 60s, Footloose, Work This Out and Anything Can Happen

Instructors:

Cole Peterson – Kids Camp Director and Drama Instructor

Cole is a recent Whitworth graduate with degrees in Theatre, Education, and History. He is passionate about allowing space for collaborative theatre making with his casts loves approaching rehearsals with an open mind. Cole is also a Journey Theater alum, and performed in shows and improv teams from the ages of 11 to 18. He loves Journey Theater for how it provides students of varying ages opportunities for artistic expression and does so in a safe and respectful community setting.

Kelsey Burton – Kids Camp Dance Instructor

Kelsey has been involved with Journey since 2015, participating in many shows, classes, and camps. Currently an undergraduate student at Oregon State University, Kelsey is absolutely thrilled to be spending her summer working at Journey camps! She is so grateful for all of the amazing memories from her time as a student in Journey and is really excited to see others form great memories and friendships at camps this summer as well!

Karina May – Kids Camp Vocal Instructor

Karina May is currently a student at WIllamette University, and is so excited to be returning this year to teach at camps! Karina started off doing theater in a Journey camp over a decade ago, and it is safe to say the impact it has made on her life has been enormous, as she is currently studying both music and theater. Camps have always been the highlight of her year, both as a student and a teacher. Her favorite thing is to watch kids explode out of their shells as they grow so much over just one week.
