Teen Dance Camp 
13 – 19 year olds 
July 12 – 16, 2021 9:00am to 3:30pm
Groove Nation Dance Academy in Vancouver

Showcase is TBD and dependent on Covid guidelines at the time

Campers will enjoy skill-based instruction (beginner, intermediate or advanced) in tap, musical theater, and hip hop from professional dance teachers as they do their morning rotations.  After a time of worship, Bible study, and small group time, each day will end with a full company production number rehearsal. Increase your dance skills!  Grow in your faith!  Have a blast with friends!
Please bring jazz, tap and tennis shoes.

 

Instructors

 

Chelsea Nicole Lapp is an award-winning choreographer from San Diego who recently relocated to Vancouver. Having grown up in the theatre world since age 4, Chelsea has performed in over 80 shows and tour groups, and at the age of 14 began choreographing and teaching dance classes for a national children’s theatre company. Since 2007, Chelsea has choreographed both professional and non-professional shows all over the Unites States, as well as Uganda. Her training includes  the Broadway Dance Center in NYC and Academy of Performing Arts in San Diego, she is also an alumnus of the Pulse Teacher Workshop and the Stage Door Connections Workshop with Andy Blankenbuehler. Chelsea is a recipient of the Portland Area Musical Theatre Award, Inland Theatre League, National Youth Arts, and Director’s Choice Award.

 

Grace Thompson is thrilled to be teaching for teen dance camp this year! She is excited to help students grow and explore dance as they increase their skills and strength in various styles. Grace holds a BA in Fine Arts from Indiana University and has been teaching and choreographing for Journey Theater the past 5 years since moving to the PNW from the Midwest. She is an avid tap dancer who loves performing and finding ways to bring that art form to a new and broader audience through video.

 

Madeleine Townsend has been dancing for the last 20 years and is extremely passionate about sharing her knowledge and love for dance with as many people as she can. Madeleine spent her childhood dancing at studios in the Vancouver/Portland area, with the majority of the time spent on multiple competitive companies at Groove Nation Dance Academy. She went on to train at the University of Washington with renowned choreographers and Broadway performers, as well as the UW Hip Hop Student Association, and has since been teaching for local studios and theater companies like Journey Theater. Outside of dancing, Madeleine can be found with her 3 cats, planning her next Disney trip, or studying for her degree in Psychology.

 

Brenna Blain  is a wife, mom, Christian speaker and podcast producer from the PNW. She has a BA in Theology and Biblical Studies from Multnomah University and uses her degree to help Christians pursue a deeper and more authentic relationship with the living God. While she speaks on many topics, Brenna is most passionate about God’s involvement in our pain and personal struggles including mental illness, same sex attraction and abuse. Discounts:
Early Registration Discount: Students registered and paid by May 10, 2021 will receive $15 off each registration.
New Family Discount: Families enrolling a student for the first time are eligible for a discount for $25 off the total cost of registration. Enter the code FIRSTJOURNEY when registering online. This discount is given once per family.
Sibling Discount: Any family that enrolls more than one child in Journey for the same session of classes will receive $10 off for every child enrolled. Note that this discount is given once per child.
Multiple Registrations Discount: Any child who is enrolled in more than one Journey class per session will receive $10 off every class enrolled after the first.

Sibling and Multiple Registration Discounts cannot be combined.

Age Policy – All students must meet the designated age requirement within the session for which they have enrolled.  For example, a child must turn 8 by the end of the session to participate in an 8–12/18 year old class and audition for the show.

Refunds for camp payments must be requested at least two weeks before the first day of the camp in which a student is registered.
A $25 processing fee will be charged.
