Dancing Through Life Music Revue Camp 2023

Ages: 13 – 18

July 24 – 28  9am – 4pm
Showcase: 2:30pm on Friday, July 28

at Crosspointe Baptist 9810 NE 76th St, Vancouver

Join us as we sing and dance our way through the greatest hits from one of Broadway and Disney’s biggest composers: Stephen Schwartz! With shows like Wicked, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Godspell, and more, this camp will be epic!!! So warm up those voices and grab your dance shoes, we’ve got some magic to do at our new music revue camp, Dancing Through Life: featuring the Music of Stephen Schwartz! 

Songs: Magic To Do (Pippin), Dancing Through Life (Wicked), One Short Day (Wicked), Topsy Turvey (Hunchback), Through Heaven’s Eyes (Prince of Egypt), When You Believe (Prince of Egypt), We Beseech Thee (Godspell) and Light Of The World (Godspell).  Subject to change.

 

Campers will spend an hour each day after lunch in worship, learning from God’s word and in small group discussions.  We’ll be focusing on 1 Corinthians 16:13 which tells us “Be on guard.  Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous.  Be strong.”

 

Cost: $325.  

Discounts: 
New Family Discount: Families enrolling a student for the first time are eligible for a discount for $25 off the total cost of registration. Enter the code FIRSTJOURNEY when registering online. This discount is given once per family.
Sibling Discount: Any family that enrolls more than one child in Journey for the same session of camps will receive $10 off for every child enrolled. Note that this discount is given once per child.
Multiple Registrations Discount: Anyone who is enrolled in more than one Journey camp per session will receive $10 off every class enrolled after the first.

Sibling and Multiple Registration Discounts cannot be combined.

Refunds for camp payments must be requested at least two weeks before the first day of the camp in which a student is registered.
A $25 processing fee will be charged.

Age Policy – All campers must meet the designated age requirement (13-18 years old)  within the session for which they have enrolled.  Summer session is June 1 – August 31.  Children who are 18 years old on June 1st may enroll in this camp; children must turn 13 by the end of the session (August 31) to participate.

Camp Director/Choreographer: Chelsea Nicole Pitel

Chelsea is an award-winning choreographer from San Diego who recently relocated to Vancouver. Having grown up in the theatre world since age 4, Chelsea has performed in over 80 shows and tour groups, and at the age of 14 began choreographing and teaching dance classes for a national children’s theatre company. Since 2007, Chelsea has choreographed both professional and non-professional shows all over the Unites States, as well as Uganda. Her training includes  the Broadway Dance Center in NYC and Academy of Performing Arts in San Diego, she is also an alumnus of the Pulse Teacher Workshop and the Stage Door Connections Workshop with Andy Blankenbuehler. Chelsea is a recipient of the Portland Area Musical Theatre Award, Inland Theatre League, National Youth Arts, and Director’s Choice Award.

 

Choreographer: Cassidy Lenore 

Cassidy has been dancing for 11 years and has trained in over 12 styles. She has competed at dozens of dance competitions in Portland, Vancouver and Dallas Texas and currently dances with Radiance Dance Company in Washougal. She is a part of Mixd Dance Company for their spring session this year. Cassidy has been a dance ambassador for a local non profit in 2018 and taught multiple workshops throughout southern Washington.

 

Music Director: Karina May

Karina May is currently a student at WIllamette University, and is thrilled to be returning this year to teach at camps! Karina started off doing theater in a Journey camp over a decade ago, and the impact it has made on her life has been enormous. Camps have always been the highlight of her year, both as a student and a teacher. She is so excited to help these teens hone their craft, and can’t wait to see what they can do in just one week!

 

Camp Pastor: Lori Ryan

Lori has been around Journey since 2003. Her latest project was music directing Bye Bye Birdie. She is passionate about the Bible and helping people apply it to their lives. Lori loves funny socks and peanut M&Ms.

 

 

 

Worship Leader: Jay Tatco-Nowak

Jay has been a teacher at Journey since September 2022. He started at Journey as Sebastian in the summer production of The Little  Mermaid. Jay has also been involved in worship ministry since high school. He has served as a worship leader and a guitarist at several churches and currently serves at Horizon Community Church in Tualatin. Worship ministry has been an integral part of his life and he enjoys serving God through music.
