JT101 Trouper Tales (ages 6-7)

Teacher: Kylie Burton

Bring your favorite stories to life through creative play and imagination. In Trouper Tales students will begin to develop their acting skills by creating short plays based on well-loved children’s books. Students will work on expression, movement, and working as a group. This session will focus on three fun, classic children’s stories: Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type (by Doreen Cronin); Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel (by Virginia Lee Burton), and The Day The Crayons Quit (by Drew Daywalt).

DR090 Foundations of Drama (ages 8-11)

Teacher: Bethany Larson

Explore the building blocks of acting through creative movement, theater games, and more! You’ll be able to use your whole body, voice & facial expressions to portray any character you choose!

DR090 Foundations of Drama (ages 11-18)

V090 Foundations of Voice (ages 8-18)

Teacher: Rebekka Ramirez

Whether you sing in your church choir, along with Rock Band, or just in the shower, singing can be fun! Learn how to put those pipes to use with good technique and style. In this interactive class, students will learn the fundamental concepts and training of the voice, learn proper posture and breathing techniques, phrasing and how to stay on pitch. Students will develop the confidence they need to perform solos in showcase through an encouraging learning environment.

DA090 Foundations of Dance (ages 8-14)

Teacher: Lindsey Doak

1, 2, 3, 4 - Let's get up and rock the floor! 5, 6, 7, 8 - Point your toes and stand up straight! Step up to the basic techniques that will prepare you to take on any form of dance. Whether you want to learn Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, or Ballroom, this class will give you the foundation you’ll need to succeed.

CI101 Comedy (ages 12-18) *

Teacher: Stephen Pick

Pre-Requisite: DR090

Whether you feel like you are a natural comedian, have always enjoyed a good pun, or are the one to plan the ol' slip on a banana peel trick in your school cafeteria, you're invited to embark on the rules of comedy. Come play with us as we learn what makes something funny on stage...and what doesn't. Learn the classic bits and gags and how to execute them. Experiment with a variety of comic characters, discover your individual attributes and strengths, and create your own unique repertoire of characters within the context of various comedic excerpts. Let's "make 'em laugh!"

V105 Voice: Voice of the Villain (ages 9-16) *

Teacher: Taylor Gonzaga

Pre-Requisite: V090

Want to learn how to perform a specific character type? Then this is the class for you! The focus of this class will change from session to session. We will offer instruction to help master various vocal styling for character types, such as: Villains, Ingénues, Romantic leads as well as specialty characters like animals.

DR103a Voice Impressions (ages 10-18) *

Teacher: Allen Larson

Pre-Requisite: DR090

Welcome to Voice Impressions, the drama class where we teach you how to imitate some of the most iconic voices! Learn how to do voice impressions, character voices, celebrity impersonations, and more! In this session we learn the keys to performing voices like Sponge-bob Squarepants, Miss Piggy, Mickey Mouse and Goofy, and others.

Journey Studio: Musical Theater (ages 13-18) *

Teacher: Chelsea Lapp

Pre-Requisite: Audition

Journey Studio is a program designed for students who want more rigorous training in the theater arts. If you are considering pursuing theater as a career, or just want to push yourself to really grow in your skills and become a more well-rounded performer, then this program is for you. Please note that the audition date has passed for Journey Studio. Watch for information for a new session of Studio to open in the fall of 2022.
