Hip Hop is more than just dance steps. It’s a cultural force from fashion to music, to art and language. The hard-hitting beats and the hard-hitting steps flow from a social heritage. From 80’s techno-funk pop & lock to “street battles”, this class will help students develop a dance vocabulary so they too can be part of the social commentary. DR103 The Actor's Voice (ages 9-14) * CLASS IS FULL

Teacher: Jessica Dore

Pre-Requisite: Temporarily waived, please see note.

An actor has two instruments at their disposal—the body and the voice. In this class, we’ll build on the Foundations class to help each actor learn the basics of projection, breathing, and articulation. Learning to use and protect their vocal instrument is critical to an actor’s success. Students will understand the need for projection and develop the stamina they need to be successful for the duration of a rehearsal process and show run. This class is a must for anyone who takes performance seriously. Plus, learning to speak and communicate well is a great asset off stage too! *This class normally requires a prerequisite of DR090 Foundations of Drama. However, due to increased enrollment we are waiving the prerequisite this session to make room for new students to take a class. Please note - this WILL NOT replace DR090 on transcripts, and will still need to be taken in order to meet prerequisites for Drama classes in future sessions.
