Dear friends of the Journey Theater community, Winter shows: We are excited to announce our winter shows (pending dates and performance venues) Disney’s High School Musical and the classic broadway hit, Annie. Students have been asking for both of these shows for many years, so we are excited to finally be able to do […]
Most Journey stories start with the line “I took my first Journey class when I was seven.” However, I started when I was sixteen in early 2023. I had been involved in theater since I was eleven with various theater companies. I got to the point where I realized I wanted something more. I had […]
When I was 8 I auditioned for my first Journey show. And I was… less than thrilled; I nearly backed out twice. I sang “This Little Light of Mine”, and I forgot the name of the song onstage. The only reason I was there in the first place was because a friend dragged me into […]
As a child, I was never all that into musicals and would always rather watch regular movies rather than ones with music, but I had friends that were doing a program called Journey and my mom decided to enroll me in a class and I would audition for the next show, Narnia the Musical. I […]
I first started Journey in 2016 when my parents decided that I needed to come out of my shell and make some new friends. I wasn’t super athletic or sporty, and I certainly wasn’t into computers and STEM, so theater was the perfect fit for me. We had heard about Journey from some friends, so […]
It’s a strange feeling when you go from measuring time by shows to measuring by decades. But… here we are. Like many of the people in this theater, Journey has had an extraordinarily large impact on my life (though in my day it was still part of CYT). Growing up, my grandma would take us […]

I started in Journey in 2003 (then called CYT) when I was ten-years-old, but I hated it. I was only there because my mom, Lori Ryan, was teaching. When I turned 12, something switched. I’ve always said it was because I found a friend group. I also had crushes on the boys in the program, […]
Welcome to Journey Theater! I “found” Journey (CYT at the time), as a 17 year old homeschooler from Oregon City when Bethany Larson held an interest meeting about this new organization starting in Vancouver. I attended their summer camps as the awkward tall kid that you can’t tell whether is a student or counselor, and […]
When I was four years old, my Aunt Mary took me to see my first live stage musical. I remember wishing I could be on stage with the actors, singing and dancing the way they did. That was in the fall of 2001, and the show as You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Jourey Theater’s very […]
