Singing and dancing are a part of my heritage on both sides of my family, and I love it too! I grew up with it as a part of life. My mom would take my sister and I to Journey’s school day shows whenever we could go. My sister, Grace, was the first one to take the plunge and do the show Anne of Green Gables in 2015. It was what we did. When I auditioned with my sister for Lion King, Jr, I wasn’t nervous just singing on the stage. I was ready to start following in my sister’s footsteps and do a musical. For Lion King, Jr, I was cast as a wildebeest. Dancing was my favorite part and after that show I never wanted to stop doing theater.
I always enjoy the rehearsals, hanging out with all the good people in Journey and performing on stage. I was a little shy off the stage as a kid but as I continued to do theater I came out of my shell, and I made some amazing friends. I continued to do shows until COVID hit. I was a part of the cast in the show The Secret Garden and I was devastated when it was canceled just a few hours before the curtain opened. We continued online and Beka brought laughter into our home during a difficult time in our world. We danced with Chelsea doing Flashmob, which was the best part of COVID.

In 2022, Journey moved from zoom back to the stage and I kept going. I have continued to grow in my theater skills over the years and I have loved every moment. Journey has changed me for the better. In the past six years, I have overcome the biggest fear in the world of public speaking, I have come out of my shell, I have enjoyed my time with amazing friends, and I have grown in my skills with theater over all the shows, classes, and camps. My parents even joined me on the stage for a couple of plays.
Thank you, Journey, for helping me grow in personal character and in my walk with Jesus.
