Welcome to Journey Theater!
I “found” Journey (CYT at the time), as a 17 year old homeschooler from Oregon City when Bethany Larson held an interest meeting about this new organization starting in Vancouver. I attended their summer camps as the awkward tall kid that you can’t tell whether is a student or counselor, and in the Fall, was the last student to audition for their very first show, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, in a room full of 10 year olds. I thought: “I stick out like a sore thumb, I’m obviously not gonna get cast. I’ll give it my all and sing my biggest, and at least I’ll have fun on my way out.” So I sang Streisand, real loud.
That was 14 shows, 2 tour groups, 3 incredible Improv teams, too many summer camps, a full time office job, and an unbeatable community gained over 20+ years ago.

Whether I’m performing, directing or running around like a HYPE girl (see what I did there?), I have loved this organization. Loved the opportunity to be a young Christian and pursue theater, and MOST importantly, be a part of this community of FAMILY. 20 years later, these are still my people: they’re the ones that visited when we all lived in different states, the ones that shared life when the world was shut down, the mommas that brought me meals when I had my two babies, the friends I call too late at night to laugh with, and I wouldn’t be the same without them.
Coming here always feels like home. I hope you feel like one of the gang and at home with us today too.
